Pinxton & South Normanton Local History Society.
The Pinxton and South Normanton Local History Society is a group of like minded people who meet once a month at the Post Mill Centre.
We meet every 4th Monday in the month at 7.15pm and have speakers doing presentations about the local and surrounding area. We also have 2 annual excursions to local points of interest and have visited places like Sheffield manor lodge, Ruddington Framework knitting museum and Lincoln Castle all very interesting in different ways.
Each year we hold heritage days where there are collections of old photos, maps and other documents on display for visitors to view and purchase if they wish. We produce a quarterly newsletter with stories and pictures of local interest.
If anyone is interested in joining the society membership is just £12 for the year or if you would like to attend as a visitor it’s £2.
Next year in addition to the Heritage days we will be at the Summer Fete at Brookhill Hall with a display of photos and documents and people on hand if you have any questions about the history of Pinxton. This is a great opportunity to find out about why the school is called John King School or hear about Pinxton Porcelain.
